1. The Wizard of Oz gives the phrase "Deus ex machina" a whole new meaning. If I had a dollar for every time the plot was resolved in the most contrived manner possible, I would have been rich several times over by the time I finished this book.
2. For a children's book written in the 1900's, the Tin man, the Scarecrow and the Lion are shockingly bloodthirsty! There's quite a bit of beheading and neck-strangling in the book.
3. Highly imaginative, considering it was written over a hundred years ago, but the amount of time elapsed shows. Best used as a read-aloud bedtime book for the munchkins! (Hehe. See what I did there?)
